Welcome to High Balsam Farm's Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program! Our CSA is a fantastic way to support local agriculture while enjoying fresh, sustainably grown produce. Join our farm family and experience the bounties of the seasons as we bring you the best of what our land has to offer.

How it Works

By becoming a member of our CSA, you will receive a share of our farm's harvest on a weekly basis for the term of your subscription. Our CSA runs for 8 weeks seasonal periods, providing you with a diverse array of produce, fine herbs and culinary delights throughout the growing season.

Farm-Fresh Produce

At High Balsam Farm, we take great pride in cultivating high-quality, organic produce. From the tastiest greens to the vibrant colors of locally produce, our CSA members enjoy a wide variety of cultivated mushrooms, vegetables, and herbs that are freshly harvested just hours before pickup. Each share will reflect the dynamic, seasonal offerings of our farm, providing you with a true farm-to-table experience. Mushrooms and greens are a consistent mainstay of our offerings with special appearance of what can be grown, foraged and shared from other local farms. “Guest star” appearances from other community farms allows for variety and providing 4-7 items each week to amaze you!

Variety and Flexibility

We understand that everyone's dietary needs and preferences vary. That's why our CSA shares are carefully curated to offer you a diverse selection of crops. You can expect familiar favorites like varieties of oyster mushrooms and salad staples, as well as some lesser-known, heirloom varieties that will expand your culinary horizons. Additionally, we offer options for replacing items upon request, allowing you to tailor your share to better suit your dietary preferences and allergy restrictions.

Becoming a CSA member means more than just receiving fresh produce – it's an opportunity to connect with the farm and the farming community. We encourage all our members to visit High Balsam Farm, participate in farm tours, and engage in our seasonal events. We incorporate permaculture principles including reducing waste, composting, low till practices and ue of mycelium to clean the water, improve soil and remediate erosion. FAQ

What if I am away for a pick up?

Each Thursday from 4-6, we will prepare all of the member’s shares. You are welcome to have a family member, neighbor or friend pick up your share in your stead. Another option is to notify us you would like your share donated and we will gladly get it to a local family in need.

What is a “typical “week” share?'“

As farmers, we depend on the conditions of the season to nourish our crops. Flexibility to provide a well balanced, nourishing share that will supplement your diet is a priority. High Balsam Farm was built on cultivating fabulous fungi offering ranging the culinary and medicinal spectrum. Each week will comprise of fresh, dried or mushroom products that enhance the pallets and your health! Likewise, antioxidant rich greens are a staple in our shares. buttery lettuces, kale, arugula, speciality mixes to enhance your plate visually and nutritionally will always be included in your share. The other items will vary to include crops selected to nourish your eyes, bellies and tastes from what is best fresh each month. Jarred goods such as a jar of our own honey, jam, mushroom seasoning balnedds and herbs will be sprinkled in to inspire.
